Aug 16, 2011: Picnic in Baker Park, Aug. 14, 2011

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held its weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on Aug. 14 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought rice, beans and soup, Chuck, Rosie and Zuli potatoes and rice, Scott fruit and water, Enrique peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches, potato burritos, cookie and bread, Kelly his famous trail mix banana bread, Michelle bottled water and Sean water. Gail and Her also donated some clothes.

About 15 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Gail, Chuck, Rosie, Zuli, Michelle, Enrique, Scott, Kelly, Tyrell, Her, Mary Joy, Thomas and Sean were there. It was blazing hot, as August in Las Vegas tends to be. We went through about 12 gallons of ice water. We would really appreciate if more people could bring bottled water.

Aug 3, 2011: Picnic in Baker Park, July 31, 2011

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held its weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on July 31 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought rice, beans, soup, bagels and banana-apricot desert, Chuck enchiladas and beans, Scott water and apples, Kelly his famous trail mix banana bread. Rhonda Killough from Project AngelFaces also donated a box of figs.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Gail, Chuck, Scott, Kelly, Mary Joy, Thomas and Sean were there. We got caught in the rain, but it did cut the heat, and we had the park gazebo for cover. Wasn’t too bad, all things considered.

Jul 28, 2011: Picnic in Baker Park, July 24, 2011

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held its weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on July 24 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought rice, beans and soup, Chuck refried beans and salad, Her beans, Herb watermellon, Scott fruit, Thomas fish and bags of chips and Enrique peanut butter-and-banana sandwiches and pastries. Her and Scott also contributed some used clothes, as well.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Gail, Chuck, Her, Scott, Herb, Mary Joy, Thomas, Carol, Michael and Sean were there. It was hot, but we brought something like 20 gallons of water, so we coped. Still, any water contributions, especially in bottles and cold, would be appreciated.

Jul 5, 2011: Picnic in Baker Park, July 3, 2011

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on July 3 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought beans and soup, Chuck refried beans and salad, Her pancakes and rice medley, Herb rice and beans and cherries, Scott apples, Thomas fish and bags of chips and Sean water. Chef Mayra of Pura Vida Bakery & Bystro also baked lots of vegan brownies and cupcakes. Her contributed some used clothes, as well.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Chuck, Her, Scott, Herb, Mary Joy, Thomas, Her and Sean were there. It was overcast, which cut the heat, but we still went through five gallons of water in under two hours. Any water contributions would be appreciated.

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on June 26 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought rice, soup and beans, Chuck spaghetti and salad, Herb watermelon, Thomas fish, and Sean peanut butter sandwiches and water. Her and Lorne also brought books and clothes.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Gail, Chuck, Herb, Thomas, Her, Lorne, Mary Jory and and Sean were there. It was hot, which meant we had to refill the smaller water jugs a few times. Water’s going to become more and more important as the summer goes on.

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on June 12 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought rice, soup, beans and bread, Kelly trail mix banana bread, Chuck spaghetti, salad, bread and orange soda, Daniel juice and Sean cupcakes, water and juice. Thomas also brought one-use body lotions and shampoos.

About 15 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Kelly, Chuck, Thomas, Daniel and Sean were there. The weather behaved, and we talked about community organizing and just generally enjoyed the weather.

We’ll have a table at Viva Valhalla’s demo release party at Yayo Taco tonight at 8 p.m. Bands include Fake Smiles, Hard Pipe Hitters, Scrap Iron Saints, Dick Falcon and The Seriouslys, plus a performance by Gracie Psycho of the Snake Eyes Sideshow. Swing by, say hello, and stay for the music!

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on June 5 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought potatoes, rice, soup and beans, Jeremy lemonade, bananas and Clif bars, Herb coconut rice, Daniel juice and Sean bananas, water, peanut butter sandwiches and fruit. Her and Lorne also brought and gave out clothes.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Jeremy, Her, Lorne, Herb, Daniel and Sean were there. It was windy (as usual) but not too bad, and we had only a few cups blow away this week. We talked about community organizing and just generally enjoyed the weather.

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on May 29 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Gail brought beans, ravioli, soup and rice, Herb watermelon and cherries, Daniel juice and Sarita water.

About 20 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Gail, Herb, Thomas, Sarita, Enrique and Sean were there. It was a bit cold and it threatened to rain, but it held off until we left. We talked about community organizing, cranked the tunes and just generally enjoyed the weather.
