May 23, 2010: Picnic in Baker Park, Sunday, 23 May 2010 / Happy 30th Food Not Bombs!

Today, Sunday, from 10:30am – 12:00pm, Food Not Bombs Las Vegas gathered for our weekly Free Picnic in the Park in Baker Park. Today marks the 30th anniversary of the first Food Not Bombs action in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and we celebrated with a big meal and some good conversation. We shared rice, chili beans, potatoes, hot salsa, bread, vegetable soup, fresh fruit, salad, and muffins for the meal, with hot coffee, cold water, orange juice and citrus punch for drinks. About 35 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Sarita, Sean, Kelly, Charles, Daniel, and Gail came out to meet up, celebrate the occasion, and keep the table from blowing away in the wind.

We had a great meal, and some good conversations about organizing spaces and community support for Food Not Bombs.

We come out to Baker Park to share a free vegan picnic with food for anyone who wants to eat.,+Las+Vegas,+Clark,+Nevada+89104&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FaiSJwIdMBQj-Q&split=0&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=23.875,57.630033&hq=&hnear=E+St+Louis+Ave+%26+S+10th+St,+Las+Vegas,+Clark,+Nevada+89104&z=16Baker Park
