Feb 6, 2010: Picnic in Baker Park, Sunday, February 7

Food Not Bombs Las Vegas held our weekly Free Picnic in the Park at Baker Park on February 12th from 10:30am to 12pm. We had a big mess of bagels, rice, beans, vegetable soup, and salad for the main course, with fresh fruit and a delicious vegan apple crisp for desert, and orange juice, citrus punch, and fruit punch to drink.

It was cloudy and a bit chilly and started to rain toward the end of the meal. About 25 people joined in the meal this week. Food Not Bombs organizers Kelly, Kaleb, Sean and Daniel were there, and Charles made it back after a month of traveling. Gail cooked the soup, beans, and rice and made the salad, and dropped by later in the meal. Laura made up the apple crisp and had Charles deliver it.

In spite of the cloudy skies, the weather is starting to turn nice, and we had a good chance to talk about the community in the park and anarchist organizing in Vegas. No music this week — but the boombox will be back, with fresh batteries, next Sunday. See you at the park next week!
